Lore
Source Material
There are only a handful sources for Labrynth information, the lore explanation further down this page is based upon these.
- Valuable Book EX 3 (VBEX3): A yearly series of books releasing every March in the OCG, featuring lore information for recent archetypes and cards.
- YU-GI-OH! CARD GAME ART WORKS (ART1): An artbook released early 2024, featuring over 200 pages of concept art from the OCG and Rush Duel from various archetypes and important cards.
- The card artworks themself.
- Merchandise, primarily the playmats, which show high resolution artwork of the cards.
The majority of the lore is explained by VBEX3 and ART1, however some additional information can be gathered from various sources and can be found at the bottom of the page.
TLDR; Labrynth is a (lesbian) love story, of Lovely trying to impress the Knight, while getting supported by the servants and furniture

Below is a transcript of the translation available on Yugipedia, with images of the pages attached. The concept artwork included here shows the same details as the ones in ART1, however there is one sketch that was not included in ART1:
Besides that its also noteworthy that the image of Lovely used shows more than even her playmat:

Narration | An eldritch yet beautiful silver demonic palace. Awaiting the knight were countless death traps and cold-blooded demons and servants. And the lovely lady of the lair. It was an impregnable castle that repelled all who entered, but behind the scenes…? |
Title | The Enormous Silver Castle |
Narration | According to legend and rumor, this castle was cursed, and the curse of the labyrinth would never be broken unless the true treasure lying deep within the castle was brought back. But according to others, the master of the castle was an immensely gorgeous princess, who was delicate as a white thread, and ephemeral as the moon. That night, a knight stepped foot into this castle swarming with rumors… |
Ariane | Hey, listen, our esteemed knight is coming!! Quickly, get into position! Archfiend! I told you, you’ve got Grand Gallery duty tonight! |
Arianna | Chandraglier, it is not time to sleep. |
Narration | Several Hours Later… |
Ariane | Phew, barely made it! …I mean a-ahem! WELCOME, DEAR KNIGHT! Tonight, the staff of the Silver Castle of Labrynth are pleased to present you with the utmost courtesy and respectful hospitality. |
Arianna | Come in, please enjoy yourself to the fullest until the very end. |
Ariane | First, let us begin with the Reception Hall! It includes a collection of furnishings that Her Highness the Princess has elegantly and elaborately decorated. It is the result of roughly three days’ worth of burning the midnight oil. |
Arianna | They shall come at you from every direction, from every nook and cranny, so please, enjoy the blood-thirsty, diabolic interior of the castle to your heart’s content. |
Narration | Several Hours Later… |
Unknown Narrator | Enjoy yourself to your heart’s content… |
Unknown Narrator | Enjoy yourse— uhm, my dear knight? |
Ariane | Now, let’s see how far has that knight gotten by no— hey, that was quick! In front of the staircase already! Augh, we worked soooo hard to prepare! |
Arianna | Didn’t even take the time to appreciate it. I wonder what I should tell Her Highness the Princess when she inquires as usual about how much our dear knight enjoyed and suffered. Though, our middle elder sister will scold us later for how quickly this was. |
Ariane | At least, it’s time for the two of us to have some fun. |
Arianna | Yes, the two of us will have a chance to inflict some suffering. |
Ariane | Oh dear noble knight, how quickly you have arrived! But to move forward, thou shalt face us, the younger sisters of the Ariadne white porcelain maidens: Ariane, and…! |
Arianna | …Arianna, for we shall be your opponents. |
Narration | Several Hours Later… |
Arianna | Phew, got away in the end. I doubt I will be able to move for some time. |
Narration | (Chandraglier gurgles and Stovie Torbie whines) |
Ariane | Oh my, you guys did a great job too. But, I wonder if Her Highness the Princess will be satisfied with this. It probabyl has to do with her being stuck indoor all this time, but she seems awfully excited today. |
Narration | (Cuckoo creaks and one of the lamps hisses) |
Arianna | It is fine, our noble middle older sisters are still waiting in the Grand Garden. Besides, I am sure our dear knight will not be able to find it tonight either. The true treasure remains trapped within this castle… hrm, what is it, Archfiend? |
Narration | (Archfiend rumbles) |
Ariane | Hey, you’re supposed to be in the Grand Gallery! If someone goes through there, they end up right in Her Highness’ rooms, you know? |
Narration | (Archfiend rumbles) |
Arianna | Huh… ‘Her Highness will not wait’? |
Ariane | ‘She just rushed out and disappeared’!? IT’S S-S-SERIOUS!! With the castle being full of traps, it’s absolutely not safe!! |
Narration | To Be Continued… |

- The gender of the Knight has not been confirmed, however is assumed to be female by most
- The playmat artworks featured extended artwork of their cards
- The VBEX3 artwork of Lovely shows even more of her room than the playmat
- It is currently unknown how many Aria sisters there are, we just know there are at least 4 (tho thats most likely all there is)
- The Aria sisters are most like artifical beings made out of porcelaine, as they refer to themself as “Ariadne white porcelain maidens” and have visible cracks in their faces. Their creator is most likely Lovely, who created them in order to support her. It is notable that neither Lovely nor the Knight have cracks.
- On some card artworks (Farewelcome Labrynth and Labrynth Set-Up) you can see a flying lamp in the shape of a bat. This member of the castle is not available as a separate card and has been nicknamed ‘Lampbat’ by the community.
- Similarly, we have some details about the 4th Aria sister, who is visible on Big Welcome Labrynth and in the concept artwork sheet of Arias. Both times she is only seen as a silhouette, showing her wielding a giant pair of scissors. For a long time it was unsure if she is a Gardener or Tailor (most have presumed Gardener), and the concept art confirmed that she is indeed the Gardener of the Labrynth.
- Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle and Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle are the same person, with Lady being the battle form of Lovely.
- Lovely has plushies of both herself and the Knight in her room
- This can be seen in high resolution on the playmat, however the bottom of the plushies is cut-off here (top-image)
- The full plushies can be seen on the artwork of Lovely from VBEX3, however this is not available in high resolution (bottom image)
- The plushies are also visible in Lovelys entry of the HIGH-RESOLUTION ARTWORK SERIES, however these were not sold outside of the Japan, with only 200 available and no clear picture of Lovelys having surfaced so far. If anyone owns these please reach out, we would love to add a picture of it to this article
