Furniture / Back Jack Version
Absolute King Back Jack is a LV 1 DARK Fiend monster reprinted in Tactical Masters alongside the very first wave of Labrynth cards as a card Konami deemed to have synergy with the Labrynth archetype. It is a powerful card in strategies revolving around playing many Normal Trap cards, such as Paleozoic. Labrynth builds best utilizing this card play more Normal Trap cards than other builds, maximizing the value from secondary effects of archetypal Labrynth cards.
During your opponent's turn (Quick Effect): You can banish this card from the GY; excavate the top card of your Deck, and if it is a Normal Trap, Set it to your field. Otherwise, send it to the GY. That Set card can be activated during this turn. If this card is sent to the GY: You can look at 3 cards from the top of your Deck, then place them on the top of the Deck in any order. You can only use each effect of "Absolute King Back Jack" once per turn.
- The (1) effect is a Quick-Effect during the opponent’s turn, allowing you to either set the top card of your deck if it is a normal trap (and activate it that turn!) or else it gets sent to the GY. The preferred outcome of course is to hit a good trap with this, however it sometimes can also be beneficial to send the top card to the GY instead, as e.g. our furnitures and cards like Keldo and Mudora are very useful in the GY.
- The (2) effect is a trigger effect when he gets sent to the GY, allowing you to stack the top 3 cards of your deck, enabling you to setup his first effect, as well as to influence your draws.
Labrynth Synergies
Absolute King Back Jack can be discarded to the GY using Labrynth Chandraglier or Labrynth Stovie Torbie on a Quick Effect, allowing it to use both of it’s effects on the opponent’s turn, potentially setting a powerful Normal Trap card from the Deck, which can be used immediately after being Set.
As a Level 1 Fiend, Absolute King Back Jack can be sent from the Deck to the GY by using Archfiend’s Ghastly Glitch or Fiend Griefing, as well as Special Summoned from the Deck using the first effect of Ariane the Labrynth Servant.
What makes Back Jack builds unique?
Back Jack Labrynth builds are recognizable by playing cards before their very first turn (often referred to as “playing on turn zero (aka T0)”). Thanks to their notably high Normal Trap card amount, these kinds of builds tend to set powerful non-Archetypal Normal Traps by using the effects of Arias the Labrynth Butler, as well as the defining monster of the build, Absolute King Back Jack. These builds often focus on turboing out some of the most powerful generic traps in the game, like and , either finding them directly or accessing them via Trap Trick.
These versions usually play these cards at 3 copies, despite many other versions either not playing them at all, or at a lower count:
